Loto-Quebec Casino, also known as Espace Jeux, is a government-run casino and gaming organization in Quebec, Canada. It operates under the oversight of the Régie des alcools, des courses et des jeux (RACJ), which regulates all forms of gaming and betting within the province.
History
Loto-Quebec was established on April 1st, 1976, when the Quebec government passed legislation creating a state-owned Loto-Quebec Online Casino monopoly over lottery games. In 1994, Loto-Quebec introduced its first casino in Montreal’s Old Port area. Today, Loto-Quebec operates several casinos across Quebec, including Espace Jeux at Parc de la Rivière-des-Prairies in Montréal.
Organization and Management
As a government agency, Loto-Quebec is governed by the Ministry of Tourism, Recreation, Culture and Youth. The organization’s executive director, responsible for overseeing all gaming operations, reports directly to the Minister. In turn, the Minister ensures that policies align with provincial regulations.
